PRESENTATION OF THE JUNIOR PROFESSOR CHAIR
The Chair of Junior Professor (CJP) is intended for researchers in the first part of their career, with a strong potential to manage and lead a research team, as well as to participate in national, European or international projects. It is part of the framework of the law on research programming and in application of decree no. 2021-1710 of December 17, 2021 concerning the junior professor contract.
This chair is offered under a 5-year project contract (CDD). This contract will lead to a tenure in the faculty of the Institut Mines-Telecom, after evaluation of the scientific value and professional integration of the agent by an ad-hoc commission.
EXPECTED OF THE POSITION
NATURE AND PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH AND TEACHING PROJECT
With the deployment of new digital technologies (5G/6G networks, internet of things, data storage and distribution, cloud computing, edge computing, ...), the need to master the complexity and security of large digital infrastructures is ever increasing and ever changing, whether in healthcare, smart transportation or energy, to name just three important application domains for the school. Networks communications, digital infrastructures, algorithms and data offer an increasingly large surface for exposure to cyber attacks. The risks, in terms of personal or industrial data, are becoming more and more numerous with an impact on our societies that is more and more important and even challenge our sovereignty. Progresses in terms of digital infrastructure security, data protection and cryptography are critical.
The objective of this Chair is to develop research on data resilience and anonymization in relation to the detection and traceability of a cyber attack. The profile sought is deliberately broad in order to attract applications from the various fields covered by this project, in particular cryptography and data protection, network security and software security. The junior professor will have to reach a European recognition and contribute to the international visibility of the laboratory on this topic.
The junior professor recruited within the framework of the present project will contribute to amplify and enrich the existing teaching offer by developing in-depth courses on the security of digital infrastructures, on the protection of personal data and cryptography, or any other idea of teaching related to the research project of the Chair. He or she may be involved in teaching at Master's level, PhD Track, or in the engineering cycle at Télécom Paris. He/she may also supervise projects and internships related to the Chair's research topic. The teaching load remains very reasonable (about 64h TD/year).
Scientific dissemination (publications, communications, ...):
The Chairholder will have to aim at the best publication targets in the field, renowned international conferences (in particular IACR conferences; ACM CCS, IEEE S&P, USENIX Security, INFOCOM) and journals (IEEE TIFS, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Journal of Cryptology).
Indicators for monitoring the deployment of the project and the methodology for their monitoring.
The Chairholder will update his or her scientific strategy and success indicators (publications, prizes and awards, financial management, recruitments, valorization of research results) on a yearly basis in collaboration with the laboratory management. A formalized interview, containing follow-up indicators, will be carried out annually with a scientific manager in order to follow the evolution of the work and the concordance of the results with the targeted goals. The interview will conclude with the definition of improvement actions concerning the scientific strategy and the good management of human and financial resources. Intermediate meetings may be agreed upon if necessary.
The Chairholder will set up a scientific animation around his project. This scientific coordination may take the form of a regular seminar, in which members of the laboratory interested in the Chair's research project will participate. It will allow the Chairholder to follow the progress of the Chair's work, solicit interactions and share the scientific issues and problems to be solved.
