Based in Palaiseau, at the heart of the Institut Polytechnique campus alongside the École Polytechnique, ENSTA, Télécom Sud Paris and ENSAE, Télécom Paris also has an incubator based in Paris at the heart of the French start-up ecosystem.

Télécom Paris is positioned as an open-air laboratory for all the major technological and societal challenges: artificial intelligence, quantum computing, IOT, cybersecurity, large-scale digital equipment (Cloud), 5G/6G, Green IT.


With the deployment of new digital technologies (networks, cloud computing, internet of things, data storage and distribution…), the need to master the complexity and security of large digital infrastructures is constantly growing. Communication networks, digital infrastructures, algorithms, and data offer an increasingly large surface for exposure to cyber attacks. The risks, in terms of cybersecurity, are becoming more and more numerous, with an impact on our societies that goes as far as questioning our sovereignty.

Given the intense activity around this theme for several years and its foreseeable growth in the future, the C2S team of the Computer Science and Networks department needs to be strengthened by recruiting a cybersecurity professor capable of interacting and coordinating work in this area with numerous teams such as ACES, for software security and operational safety, RMS for communication network security, SSH for hardware-level security, or even teams from the department of Economics and Social Sciences), but also with other teams from IP Paris : R3S at Télécom Sud-Paris; PETRUS, TRIBE, GRACE at Ecole Polytechnique and U2IS at ENSTA Paris.

For its research activity, the team aims to develop high-level skills in the modeling and design of secure architectures in different types of systems, in particular in new digital infrastructures (5G, edge computing, mobile computing, etc.). This motivation is due to the nature of the projects and chairs in which the team is involved. The C2 team also wishes to address the issue of the protection of personal data (privacy) with a special focus on several application domains: IoT, Cloud, 5G, intelligent transport systems. The team also aims to develop high-level skills in certain new technologies such as virtualization and blockchain.

On the teaching's side, the C2 team needs a professor who can coordinate and contribute to the design of teachings in the field of cyberdefense and cybersecurity of digital infrastructures (networks and systems, such as the cloud, radio communications, vehicular systems and networks, etc).

Overall, Télécom Paris has very significant needs in cybersecurity teaching. Substantive work aims to rationalize current courses in terms of volume and to involve colleagues from different teams. The demands are constantly increasing both in graduate and executive education.

The development of collaborative projects and industrial partnerships is also an important motivation. Our industrial partners provide us with realistic use cases that help in validating the various theoretical results obtained by our teams.


    Main expertise:

    In-depth knowledge, both at the theoretical and practical level, of secure digital architectures and security protocols. Cyberattacks; Secure communications; Privacy and cryptography.

    Other useful expertise:

    • Cryptographic functions and protocols
    • Resilience models for cybersecurity architectures
    • AI applied to cybersecurity.



  • Define and carry out teachings in the considered scientific domain;
  •  Conduct high-level research in the relevant scientific field;
  • Develop and sustain partnerships, collaborations and contractual relations in its scientific field.



In collaboration with the other faculty members of the host team:

  • Define and curry out teachings in its scientific domain, for students and executive education
  • Compose juries, participate to interviews and selection of candidates (master level, engineers track, etc.);
  • Analyze and identify training needs;
  • Design and organize teaching activities;
  • Participate in the design of project driven teachings;
  • Ensure the supervision of student work;
  • Design and produce teaching materials (digital and non-digital, uses cases, etc.);
  • Participates in training workshops for faculty members.


  • Engage in research activities in the concerned scientific field, publishing in the best journals and conferences of the domain;
  • Write proposals and participate in projects involving partners from the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, the Institut Mines-Télécom or outside, from the academic or business worlds, in particular within the framework of structuring projects, and national or European projects;
  • Take the lead of research projects and wrokpackages;
  • Explore and develop partnerships within the industry, establish contractual agreements.


  • Participate in and contribute to the scientific activities of the host team and departement (seminars, presentations, juries, conference steering committees, etc.).

Fostering the recognition of Telecom Paris and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris:

  • Publish research results in the best conferences and journals;
  • Make presentations (keynote) in leading conferences;
  • Get involved in learned or professional societies at the national and international level;
  • Maintain close relationships with academic institutions, research centers and companies relevant to the considered scientific domain.

Other activities:

  • Participate in the scientific, educational and management animation of host team and host department;
  • Where appropriate, direct and manages the personnel placed under his responsibility or supervision;
  • Accounts for the activities and results relating to the missions for which he is responsible.

Job requirements


Required skills, experience, and knowledge:

  • In depth knowledge, both at the theoretical and practical side, of at least one of the following domains : Cybesecurity, networks security, Privacy and cryptography ;
  • French Habilitation diploma (HDR) or an exemption of HDR (mainly concerns the holders of an ERC Grant and candidates coming from abroad);
  • English proficiency;

Note that candidate who do not speak French will be asked to commit to obtain a proficiency in French enabling them to teach in French, within a couple of years after their hiring.

Additional skills, experience, and knowledge:

  • International experience in an academia or in an industrial research center
  • Varied experience in teaching (in terms of audience and mode of transmission of knowledge)
  • Solid experience in teaching and PhD supervision

Other abilities and skills:

  • The ability to be an active team member in a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment;
  • Strong teaching, pedagogical, and mentoring capabilities;
  • Superb written and interpersonal communication skills.


Candidates with one or more of the following required qualifications may apply:

  • HDR (French Habilitation diploma) or equivalent;
  • Civil servant recruited through the École Polytechnique or ENA or former student of the École Normale Supérieure and ≥ 3 years of professional experience;
  • Holder of a post-graduate degree from an engineering school and has ≥ 5 years of professional experience;
  • Holder of a post-graduate degree and has ≥ 7 years of professional experience;


The proposed position is a Full Professor permanent position.
