IMT Atlantique, internationally recognized for the quality of its research, is a leading general engineering school under the authority of the Ministry of Industry and Digital Technologies, ranked in the 3 main international rankings (THE, SHANGAI, QS). With three campuses in Brest, Nantes and Rennes, IMT Atlantique aims to combine digital technology and energy to transform society and industry through training, research and innovation.
You will be based in Brest, in the Computer Science Department, in the RAMBO team of the Lab-STICC, UMR CNRS 6285, supervised by Christophe Lohr. The position is offered in the framework of the e-VITA project (European-Japanese Virtual Coach for Smart Ageing, www.e-vita.coach/).
You will contribute to the fusion of heterogeneous data within the framework of the e-VITA project.
The objective of the e-VITA project is to improve the well-being of older people and thus promote active and healthy ageing, contribute to independent living and reduce the risks of social exclusion of older people in Europe and Japan. The multidisciplinary consortium working on this project is developing an innovative ICT-based virtual coaching system to detect subtle changes in the physical, cognitive, psychological and social domains of the daily life of the elderly. The Institut Mines Télécom, a partner in the project, is contributing through the SAMOVAR team at Télécom Sud Paris and the RAMBO team at IMT Atlantique, in particular through a thesis on this topic starting in October 2021. The candidate, integrated into IMT Atlantique, will be required to collaborate actively with Télécom Sud Paris.
The issues include: interoperability of ambient systems for data collection, cloud and edge computing data collection platforms, minimization of private and personal data, fusion algorithms for activity analysis and recognition. In the end, the aim is to feed the coaching system developed by the partners with contextual knowledge about the user.
The candidate will contribute to the technical deliverables of the e-VITA project, to the support of the PhD student, and to the production of scientific works in the field of multimodal data fusion.
PhD in computer science or related field of less than 3 years, with specialization in data science or machine learning.
