SCIENTIFIC CONTEXT

Within the BPI-founded « Smart-CD » i-Demo project, the multimedia group at Telecom Paris will investigate new strategies for multimedia packaging and streaming over HTTP, targeting more efficiency than the methods currently used within CDNs, especially concerning content publishing and multicast distribution. The work will consist in studying of existing protocols (ROUTE, FLUTE, DVB-I …), defining possible strategies for dealing with losses and evaluating their impact on the global quality of experience (latency, visual quality, etc.).


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

To carry out research missions in the field of multimedia streaming

  • Participates in the realization of research contracts and in the maintenance of laboratory equipment in the field of multimedia streaming
  • Designs, develops and implements innovative technical or methodological instrumentation within the framework of the scientific projects in which he/she participates
  • Develops prototypes, builds specific simulation equipment, structures and maintains test platforms and test benches, develops computer programs, designs and specifies electronic circuits, implements test or measurement campaigns...
  • Designs and carries out demonstrations and operational presentations of equipment and platforms
  • Documents the software or hardware equipment designed for research programs in order to allow their transfer
  • Within the framework of research projects in the humanities or management, designs and implements analytical tools and methods (statistical, sociological, ergonomic, econometric, marketing, appropriate, conducts studies, carries out surveys, analyzes data, etc.)

To participate in the reputation of the School and the Institut Mines-Télécom

  • Where appropriate, is associated with the publications related to the research projects in which he/she participates
  • Is involved in learned or professional societies
  • Maintains close relations with academic institutions, research centers and companies

To participate in the setting up of networked TD/TP



Job requirements

Required skills, experience, and knowledge :

  • In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in his/her field
  • Fluency in English
  • Post-doctoral or international experience in an academic or industrial laboratory appreciated
  • Teaching experience
