SCIENTIFIC CONTEXT

The Image, Data and Signal Department (IDS) is one of the four teaching and research departments of Télécom Paris. The research activity of the IDS department is done at the Laboratory Treatment and Communication of Information (LTCI).

The mission of the IDS department is teaching and research in the field of signal, image and data processing.Its objectives are:

  • - Modeling, study, analysis and interpretation of signals and images in all its forms (audio, video, multimedia, satellite images, biomedical images, ..).
  • - The study and development of algorithms and statistical processing methods for learning, optimization and data analysis.

The Department Image, Data, Signal is structured around three teams: Signal, Statistics and Learning, Multimedia and Image, Modeling, Analysis, Geometry, Synthesis.



The main objective of the recruited engineer will be to :

  • Survey of existing software programs or digital Audio workstations for music recording
  • Design, specify and develop a new platform for remote music recording
  • Integrate, adapt and optimize existing music tools for automatic annotation
  • Design and Supervise the recording of the music database
  • Distribute in Open source the music Database and recording software
  • Create a data pipeline between the app, the database and the signal processing models


Other responsibilities

  • Where appropriate, direct and manage the staff placed under their responsibility or supervision;
  • Report on the activities and results of the tasks for which they are responsible.


Job requirements

The required expertise for this position include:

  • A Master, Engineering degree or PhD in computer science, datascience, machine listening, MIR or in any closely related domain
  • 2/3 years of experience in software engineering (software architecture and specification, Python, C/C++, git, linux development tools)
  • Good command of (technical) English

Additional expertise on the following topics will be an asset:

  • Knowledge of common music recording platforms (Digital Audio Workstations)
  • Knowledge in front-end web development (JS / HTML / CSS)
  • Knowledge in back-end web development (server-side web languages)
  • Knowledge in database administration (SQL / No SQL)
  • Knowledge of sound engineering (recording and mixing)
  • A previous experience in scientific computation or data processing (e.g. Python Numpy, Matlab, Julia,…) is a plus

  • Holds a post-graduate degree
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of professional experience.
  • A 3-year higher education degree with at least 6 years of professional experience.
  • A 2-year higher education degree with at least 10 years of professional experience.
