Job description

SUBATECH is a department of IMT Atlantique and a Joint Research Unit of IMT Atlantique, Nantes University and CNRS/IN2P3. SUBATECH is made up of nearly 200 members, with about 60 researchers and teacher-researchers, 20 post-doctoral fellows, 40 PhD students and nearly 80 engineers, technicians and administrative staff. SUBATECH is organized into seven research teams and six research departments in the fields of theoretical and experimental particle, nuclear, hadronic, and radiochemical physics.

SUBATECH is recruiting an associate professor for its Xenon team, specialized in experimental particle and/or nuclear physics, expert in the simulation of radiation-matter interaction, and expert in instrumentation for innovative applications in the field of health, particularly medical imaging.

Subatech is developing all existing ionising radiation detection technologies as part of its research in the two infinities theme: direct search for dark matter, study of the strong interaction and study of neutrino properties. This is done within large inter-national collaborations with very ambitious scientific objectives. Subatech has a world-unique mastery of liquid xenon detection technology with achievements in the XENON1T and XENONnT collaborations and the development of the XEMIS2 project for small animal imaging.

The very broad spectrum of knowledge and skills mobilized by the fundamental research and development activities in instrumentation make it possible to intervene at all levels of the training courses offered by IMT Atlantique, whether in the common training courses (in the fields of physics, electronics or data analysis) or in the specialized training courses (in particular in nuclear engineering, in the "research and development in instrumentation" course, in the field of medical nuclear energy, or in the "research in subatomic physics" course of the Master's degree in "Fundamental physics and applications").

Job requirements

You have strong skills in the field of experimental particle and/or nuclear physics. You are an expert in instrumentation with recognized experience in health applications, particularly medical imaging. You are internationally recognized in your fields of expertise, you have worked in international collaborations to answer questions arising from fundamental research in particle and/or nuclear physics. Within the department, as an associate professor, you will fulfil the main roles of education, research and development in academic and industrial circles, as well as internationally.

Your scientific skills and your experience in project management will enable you to develop and participate in partnerships with partners from the economic and academic world, at regional, national and international levels. You will contribute to the development and influence of the university through high-level publications, a proactive attitude to contract negotiation and an active contribution to the life of the institute.

Your significant experience in designing and supervising teaching activities will allow you to promote learning by confronting learners with multidisciplinary problems. You are particularly interested in the competency-based approach, innovative teaching methods and the diversification of assessment methods.

Your command of English is fundamental to teach in this language.

You are really dynamic and know how to develop synergies and manage projects in education and research in a multidisciplinary environment. Sensitive to the challenges of sustainable development and social responsibility, you act in an ethical and responsible manner and have demonstrated that these dimensions are taken into account in the projects you have carried out.
