Job environment :

Department and/or laboratory and project short description

The Radiochemistry - Subatech team was created over 25 years ago. Some 40 people work on fundamental and applied research in the discipline of radiochemistry, and provide a global vision and contribution in the fields of energy, the environment and health. We are involved in studies in response to societal challenges on the behaviour of radionuclides and their fate in the environment, on the evaluation of waste conditioning matrices in storage conditions, and on the problems of decontamination and clean-up of nuclear installations. We also contribute to the development of new radionuclides for pharmaceutical use and innovative methodologies for diagnostic imaging and therapy in the fight against cancer.

Job description (what will the postdoc actually do)

The doctoral candidate will be integrated into the Radiochemistry team in order to conduct laboratory experiments in a monitored radioactive zone and to valorise them by writing A-rank publications. The aim is to take charge of the "WP 3: Soil/plant interaction" of a more global project on the underground storage of nuclear waste. The experimental part will consist of the study of the behaviour of radionuclides from nuclear waste in soils until their transfer to plants. The candidate will therefore be required to grow plants, carry out radioactive labelling of these plants and assess a potential environmental risk.
