WHAT IS THE JUNIOR PROFESSOR CHAIR (CPJ) PROGRAM?

The Junior Professor Chair (Chaire Professeur Junior - CPJ) is a tenure-track program introduced by the French research programming law. It offers a pathway to permanent professorship for outstanding researchers.

·         Objective:
The CPJ aims to strengthen and structure research and teaching activities by providing young researchers with a five-year pre-tenure track position. This program allows candidates to develop a high-impact research agenda while actively contributing to pedagogical innovation.

·         Conditions:
Over the five-year period, the selected candidate will receive dedicated financial support (covering investments, operational costs, and research unit development) and personalized guidance in preparing their application for accreditation to supervise research (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches – HDR). At the end of this period, an evaluation committee will review the candidate's progress to determine tenure eligibility.

·         Strategic Importance:
This tenure-track program promotes innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international visibility by enabling candidates to lead research projects with significant societal impact while shaping the future of education in their field. A full CPJ dossier is available upon request for more details on criteria and application processes.
