Job description

Internationally recognized generalist engineering school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom), a leading French engineering school (Technological University), IMT Atlantique aims to support transitions, train responsible engineers, and use scientific excellence to serve teaching, research, and innovation.

As part of the COCPIT project, which aims to develop scalable solutions for the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) from microalgae, we are recruiting an Engineer or Research and Development Engineer in multiphysics modeling applied to the hydrothermal liquefaction process within our Energy and Environmental Systems Department (DSEE).

In collaboration with the project team, you will assist the team with ongoing modeling work. Depending on your experience, you will integrate machine learning into the models. You will interpret the results and draft scientific documents.

Job requirements

Minimum education and/or experience required:

  • Master’s degree (Bac + 5) or equivalent

 

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Proven expertise and practical experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, particularly with commercial software like COMSOL Multiphysics.

  • Strong foundational knowledge and practical experience in Multiphysics modeling, encompassing fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer, and chemical reaction engineering.

  • Strong written and verbal communications in English

Skills, knowledge, and desirable experience (optional):  :

  • Experience with or a theoretical understanding of biomass conversion technologies, especially hydrothermal liquefaction is a plus.

  • Proficiency in programming languages for scripting/automating CFD workflows (e.g., Python, Matlab, …).

  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques, with hands-on experience in implementing algorithms (e.g., neural networks, support vector machines, Gaussian Process Regression) for engineering applications.

Abilities and skills:

  • Strong writing skills in English 

  • Autonomy, critical thinking, ability to work in a team and interact with academic partners
