Job description

Who we are ?

Télécom Paris, part of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom) and a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, is one of France's top 6 general engineering schools.

The mainspring of Télécom Paris is to train, imagine and undertake to design digital models, technologies and solutions for a society and economy that respect people and their environment.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in statistical learning and generative AI to join the Image, Data and Signal (IDS) Department at Télécom Paris.

The position is open in the Image, Data, Signal (IDS) Department within the LTCI lab. This department hosts 3 research groups IMAGE, MULTIMEDIA and S2A (Signal, Statistics and Machine Learning) and develops cutting-edge research in the field of AI/Machine Learning for various modalities. The postdoc will integrate S2A group and in particular, a research initiative about uncertainty quantification on Euclidean and non-Euclidean data in the context of predictive and generative modeling. The specific topic of the postdoc concerns the calibration of generative models for Euclidean and non-Euclidean data, a topic that has emerged very recently. In critical applications related to health for instance, a very few practical and theoretical results exist concerning the ability of generative models to provide at inference time an uncertainty measure about some targeted properties. The postdoc will explore this new topic at the lens of recent calibration tools for multivariate data generation and will eventually investigate how the chosen approach can be extended to non-Euclidean data such as graphs.

Your main responsibilities will include :

  • To carry out research missions in the field of Statistical learning and generative AI

  • To ensure supervision and tutoring missions

  • To contribute to the reputation of the School, the Institut Mines-Télécom and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris

Job requirements

You hold a PhD or equivalent degree in statistical learning and have a strong command of statistical learning, generative models, and uncertainty quantification methods. Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces and optimal transport would be an asset. You are also a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and pedagogical skills, as well as strong analytical and summarization abilities.

Why join us?
You'll be working in a fast-growing, pleasant, green and accessible environment (especially for people with disabilities) just 20 km from Paris (RER B and C suburban train lines, close to major roads). You will benefit from :

  • 49 days annual leave (CA + RTT)

  • flexible working hours (depending on department activity)

  • telecommuting 1 to 3 days/week possible

  • 75% public transport pass reimbursement

  • Proximity to numerous sports facilities, concierge service, underground parking, in-house catering, etc.
