We are looking for a Post-doctoral Fellow in Vizualizing the space of debate. You will join the SES Department in the INTERACT team. The INTERACT (Interaction, Technology, Activity) team conducts research at the crossroads of innovation, user experience, interaction processes and participatory design. Our work aims to support innovation through creative user-centred and co-design approaches, while exploring how technologies are used and reappropriated by their users on a daily basis.

SCIENTIFIC CONTEXT

Deliberation is a fundamental element in collaborative environments and democratic processes. The project focuses on the quality of large-scale online debates, particularly in the context of citizen debates on topics such as sustainable development.

Despite the existence of numerous debate platforms (online or in person), many do not take into account important cognitive or metacognitive factors, such as emotions, cultural values, or the evolution of understanding during discussions.

This project aims to remedy this by combining argumentation research with information visualisation (infovis), not simply as an output tool (data display), but as an input tool, allowing participants to externalise and visualise their thought and reflection processes during debates.
