Job description

IMT Atlantique

Internationally recognized generalist engineering school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom), leading French engineering school (Technological University), IMT Atlantique aims to support transitions, train responsible engineers, and use scientific excellence to serve teaching, research and innovation.

As part of the STARRIS (Simultaneous transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surfaces) project, which aims to support "upstream" research into millimetre-wave wireless transmission systems, for which the transmission bandwidth, and therefore the throughput, are potentially extremely high.

Under the supervision of Professor Samir SAOUDI and Professor Charlotte LANGLAIS of the Mathematical and Electrical Engineering (MEE) department, you will design and develop a complete system consisting of a reconfigurable intelligent surface with simultaneous transmission and reflection and multiple users, for full and partial channel knowledge. You will add a channel estimation mechanism to account for imperfection.

In addition, you will optimize the mapping of active and passive surface elements and evaluate the performance/energy consumption trade-off. You will also promote the project's results through scientific publications.
