Job description

Who we are ?

Télécom Paris, part of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom) and a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, is one of France's top 5 general engineering schools.

The mainspring of Télécom Paris is to train, imagine and undertake to design digital models, technologies and solutions for a society and economy that respect people and their environment.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our dynamic team in the Communications and Electronics Department at Télécom Paris. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on the optimization of very low power spectrum sensing using machine learning techniques.

This role involves the research and development of innovative methods to improve very low power spectrum sensing, with a focus on the application of machine learning. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to tackle exciting technical challenges and contribute to significant advances in the field of communications.

SCIENTIFIC CONTEXT

In an environment where the radio frequency spectrum is crowded, there is a wealth of useful information for determining existing signals and operating contexts. However, each state of the spectrum presents different processing challenges. Although optimal energy consumption is possible for each context, approaches for context-dependent system adaptation and for the implementation of energy-efficient hardware are lacking. A general method has been developed for extracting information from the spectrum in an energy-efficient way. This method uses a configurable analog parameter extractor followed by digital classifiers, thus optimizing signal processing. The proposed work will evaluate this method against conventional solutions and focus on optimizing parameter selection techniques to minimize energy consumption.
The main responsibilities of the position are to :

  • Conduct research in the field of communications and electronics
  • Provide mentoring and tutoring services
  • Contribute to the reputation of the School, the Institut Mines-Télécom and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will have strong signal processing and programming skills in Matlab and Python, as well as a good command of Latex. Experience in open source software development, in particular using git, is essential. The candidate will also need to demonstrate a strong collaborative spirit and ability to work as part of a team, as well as an aptitude for dialogue and writing. A PhD is required for this position.
Knowledge of compressed acquisition principles would be an additional asset.
We are looking for someone who can contribute effectively to our team and engage in a collaborative environment.
If you are passionate about innovation, keen to push back the boundaries of technology and contribute to cutting-edge projects, join us!

Why join us?
You'll be working in a fast-growing, pleasant, green and accessible environment (especially for people with disabilities) just 20 km from Paris (RER B and C suburban train lines, close to major roads, shared shuttle departing from Porte d'Orléans). You will benefit from :

  • 49 days annual leave (CA + RTT)
  • flexible working hours (depending on department activity)
  • telecommuting 1 to 3 days/week possible
  • 75% public transport pass reimbursement
  • Proximity to numerous sports facilities, concierge service, underground parking, in-house catering, etc.
  • Staff association at school and ministry level
  • Good to know: our social security contributions are lower than in the private sector
