Description de l'offre d'emploi

Joining Mines Saint-Étienne means committing to an institution where science and innovation build a more sustainable future. It is a school of excellence where everyone has the opportunity to unlock their full potential and contribute to tackling the challenges of tomorrow.

Ranked among the top engineering schools in France and recognized worldwide, our school, a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom, educates the talents of tomorrow while actively addressing major industrial, digital, and environmental challenges. By joining us, you become part of a community of 500 members of staff, 2,500 students and take part in an ambitious project: combining academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and positive societal impact.

The Institut Mines-Télécom brings together France’s leading Grandes Ecoles to tackle major industrial, digital, energy, and environmental challenges. With its eight public Grandes Écoles and two affiliated Graduate Schools, it is the leading public institute dedicated to engineers and managers. Together, we imagine and build a sustainable future by educating the leaders who will shape tomorrow’s transitions.

Pré-requis du poste

🎯 What we expect from you :

Electronics of the future are expected to be foldable, twistable, and stretchable into curvilinear shapes to enable applications that would be impossible to achieve using today’s rigid, hard electronics.

Would you like to contribute to the development of revolutionary flexible and stretchable electronic objects and systems? Are you also interested in the field of augmented perception?

This offers excellent potential for developing applications that interact with the human body.

This work is part of Flexeo3D, a project aimed at developing systems with interfaces capable of capturing physical environmental parameters using flexible sensors placed on the human body. The physical parameters detected by the sensors will include, in particular, normal and shear pressure to obtain a complete force vector, and thus improving object grasping in robotics or prosthetics. Other physical parameters, such as temperature, contactless environmental recognition, etc., will also be evaluated. Through project collaborators, the data will be processed by conditioning electronics and then transmitted to actuators. The concept of augmented perception in a broad sense (sensors, actuators, and electronic conditioners) is central to this project.

The work conducted within this thesis will specifically focus on developing these sensors in interaction with the skin. The main challenges will be:

·        Designing innovative sensors and developing manufacturing processes by leveraging the 3D electronic integration technology platforms available in the laboratory.

·        Combining multi-sensitive optical layer with electronic for e-kin applications

·        Modeling and incorporating the concept of sensor efficiency into the design process to enable optimal perception.

Experimental work in the laboratory is essential and will partly be conducted in our cleanroom. These efforts will contribute to the creation of radically new demonstrators, opening new avenues for exploration in augmented perception, robotics, and prosthetics.

🔍 What we are looking for :

You hold a:

·        Bac + 5 diploma or equivalent

The selected candidate must hold a Master’s degree in physics, materials science, engineering, mechatronics, or an equivalent field. A strong interest in practical work and experimentation, along with the ability to develop a rigorous scientific approach, is essential.

A strong team spirit and good oral and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
