R&D Engineer in Support of Communication Platforms - Permanent contract
- Hybrid
- Palaiseau, Île-de-France, France
Job description

Who are we?
Télécom Paris, a school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom) and a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, is one of the top 5 French general engineering schools.
The guiding mission of Télécom Paris is to train, imagine and undertake to design digital models, technologies and solutions for a society and economy that respect people and their environment.
We are looking for a R&D Engineer in Support of Communication Platforms to join the Optical Telecommunications Group (GTO). The group is home to the research programs of faculty members and a state-of-the-art laboratory on optical fiber transmission. We conduct advanced research in high-rate fiber-optic transmission, optical network architectures, advanced lasers for communications, integrated photonics, and distributed optical fiber sensors.
The recruited engineer will work on the quantum communications platform (CV-QKD), the 64 Gbaud communications platform, and other specific systems to be implemented according to upcoming research projects.
Scientific context:
The recent success at the ParisRegionQCI demo, along with the start of the FranceQCI project, which is part of a broader European effort to deploy quantum communication infrastructures (EuroQCI), highlights the urgency and strategic opportunities on multiple fronts:
In terms of partnership research, with Télécom Paris occupying a central position within the ParisRegionQCI quantum communications network, enabling connections with partners such as Orange, Thales (TRT), C2N, LIP6, IOGS, etc. Collaborations with these partners are already active and can be further developed (currently limited by the "engineering" bandwidth).
In terms of visibility at the French (quantum plan) and European levels, providing a showcase for our research, including more fundamental research, as well as associated funding opportunities.
These elements underscore the need to recruit an engineer dedicated to these platforms. This perspective is part of a dynamic where the valorization and transfer of results play a central role, further emphasizing the strategic importance of this recruitment.
Your main responsibilities will be:
To carry out research assigments in the field in Support of Communication Platforms
To participate in the reputation of the School and the Institut Mines-Télécom
To participate in the setting up pratical work
Job requirements
To succeed in this position, you have experience in optical communication systems. You also have experience in maintenance of system platforms, monitoring their evolution, and automating measurements. You are fluent in English and you are recognized for your teamwork and interpersonal skills.
