Internationally recognized generalist engineering school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom), leading French engineering school (Technological University), IMT Atlantique aims to support transitions, train responsible engineers, and use scientific excellence to serve teaching, research and innovation.

As part of the European project VIVE, which aims to design and control an innovative holographic Head-Up Display (HUD) system for the automotive industry (using MEMS laser scanners and digital hologram matrices), we are recruiting a Research and Development Engineer within our Optics Department.

In collaboration with the project team, you will develop numerical models in C/Python for the design of metasurfaces and Computer-Generated Hologram (CGH) matrices. You will ensure cleanroom fabrication, characterization, and optimization of photonic structures as well as projection systems. Finally, you will lead scientific valorization by disseminating your results (patents, publications) and ensuring technical follow-up of the project with partners.

Job requirements

✔️ You have skills in: Numerical modeling of optical components, programming (C, Python, CUDA), and Computer-Aided Design (CAD).

✔️ You have experience in: Cleanroom fabrication (photolithography, multiphoton polymerization), optical metrology, and assembly of holographic projection systems.

✔️ You are: Autonomous, demonstrate scientific rigor, and have a spirit of initiative.

✔️You enjoy working in a multinational team and possess excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English (international travel to be expected).

🎓 The desired profile must hold a Master’s degree or an Engineering Degree (Bac +5) in optics, photonics, or image processing.

SALARY INFORMATION:

💰 Base salary : Starting from €33,614 gross per year, commensurate with profile and experience (public sector benefits from lower employee social security contributions).
