IMT Atlantique internationally recognized for the quality of its research, is a leading technological university under the authority of the Ministry of Industry and Digital Technologies, ranked in the three main international rankings (THE, SHANGHAI, QS).


The position is open on the Nantes campus within the Interdisciplinary Department of Social Sciences (DI2S). DI2S is supported by a multidisciplinary team of 17 permanent faculty members specializing in economics, sociology, management sciences, and law. The department also hosts the Marsouin research team https://www.marsouin.org/. The faculty members of the DI2S department are based on the Brest and Nantes campuses. The department has a significant activity in contract and partnership research, leads several teaching and research chairs, and participates in national and international research projects. It provides instruction for all the educational programs at IMT Atlantique. With its grounding in a leading engineering school, DI2S aims to prepare all students to address the technological, environmental, social, economic, and managerial challenges of tomorrow.


Thematic and research challenges

In a context marked by significant environmental, technological, and social challenges, DI2S research analyzes the social, organizational, and economic logics and transformations in our societies. The work conducted is characterized by various levels of analysis, ranging from macro to micro, and covers a variety of sectors: industry, health, culture, etc. The research is organized around three main themes: 1 - Digital, society, and business models; 2 - Technology, work, and organization; 3 - Risks, resilience, and sustainability.

DI2S seeks to strengthen its expertise in Management Sciences, specifically in the field of information systems management. Current transformations (industrial, ecological, and social) are putting pressure on organizations and societies. In this context, the department is recruiting a profile capable of conducting in-depth research on the major transformations induced by the rise of digital technology, environmental concerns, and a rapidly changing social context. Research is expected on the opportunities as well as the risks posed by the integration of generative artificial intelligence, digital platforms, big data, the internet of things, etc., while pursuing the objective of a sustainable and responsible digital transformation.


Education

Located on 3 attractive campuses, IMT Atlantique boasts a strong international dynamic while remaining on a human scale. In its various BAC+5 programs (engineering and masters-DNM), students are confronted with real-life problem situations through a variety of pedagogical approaches. The ambition of IMT Atlantique is to train high-potential young professionals, capable of mobilizing a broad spectrum of skills in real-life situations, in a variety of environments (production, research, business creation, etc.) and socio-economic fields.

Involved both in the core curriculum and in the elective courses, the person recruited will contribute both to his or her management information systems / management sciences and to cross-disciplinary, interdisciplinary activities or those linked to companies: tutoring of projects/internships, oral presentations, coaching, etc. He/she will be invited to propose new projects, programs and related teaching methodologies, particularly inspired and supported by industrial requirements and partnerships. https://www.imt-atlantique.fr/en/study


Collective responsibility and involvement in economic development

Particular attention will be focused on the candidate's ability to get involved in the collective life of the school: contributing to, or piloting, cross-disciplinary projects (e.g. on ecological transition), taking on responsibilities (training programs, research projects, teaching or research teams) or participating in bodies such as the teaching committee, school council.

In addition, in an environment of privileged relations with major national and international industrial partners, as well as a dense network of SMEs and start-ups, the teacher-researcher recruited will contribute to the school's reputation and economic development, particularly through the valorization of his/her work by patenting or technology transfer. With 290 permanent faculty members, 2,000 students including 300 PhD students, IMT Atlantique produces 1,000 publications each year and raises 18M€ in research funds.

In the case of this open position, a special and complementary emphasis will be put on the candidates’ skills in the fields of management information systems and her/his ability to develop partnerships, collaborations and contractual relations in this area.


Level of education and/or experience required

  • PhD in management sciences
  • Research experience in an academic or industrial laboratory
  • Working papers with strong potential or significant and recent publications in journals ranked in management sciences
