CONTEXT :

We consider the transport of multimodal traffic wherein a single source transmits two sub-streams, one that has lesser priority, for instance video, and one that has higher priority, for instance control. The latter has more stringent constraints in terms of delay and reliability and needs to have some dedicated resources in order to fulfill its quality of service requirements. The aim is to find the optimal allocation of resources so as to maximize the utility associated to each sub-stream. Learning can be used in order to address the case when several parameters are unknown such as the share of each type of traffic and/or their associated utilities.

 

MISSIONS:

  1. Carry out research in the fields of optimization and networks

  2. Contribute to the reputation of the School, the Institut Mines-Télécom, and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris

ACTIVITIES:

  1. Carry out research in the fields of optimization and networks

  • Carry out research within the framework of the Department's contracts in the optimization and networking fields

  • Participate in and ensure the completion of project deliverables

  • Design and develop associated models, algorithms, and implementations

 

2. Contribute to the reputation of the School, the Institut Mines-Télécom, and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris

  • Publish the results of their research work

  • Give presentations and lectures

  • Present their work at workshops

 

3. Miscellaneous Activities

  • Participate in the scientific activities of the Department or Institution

  • Report on the activities and results related to the missions for which they are responsible

Job requirements

Level of training and / or experience required:

  • PhD or Doctorat for less than 3 years

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Fluent written and spoken English

  • In-depth scientific knowledge of optimization

  • Knowledge of associated software development tools and environments: Julia, Python

  • Excellent scientific communication skills

Advantageous skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in the field of networking

  • Experience in the field of queuing theory

  • Experience in the field of AI

Abilities and skills:

  • Ability to work as part of a team on national or international research contracts, in collaboration with academic and industrial partners
