CONTEXT :
The recruitment of the post-doctoral researcher is carried out within the framework of the DemoCIS project. DemoCIS is an ambitious national project, aiming to explore contemporary changes in democracies. It is one of the six national projects funded by France 2030 in response to the France 2030 ANR SHS call for projects. DemoCIS brings together 4 universities (Lille, CY Cergy Paris Université, Jean Moulin Lyon 3, Grenoble Alpes), 2 institutes (Institut Mines Télécom (IMT-BS and IMT Atlantique), 3 institutes of political studies (Lille, Grenoble, Saint-Germain-en-Laye), CNRS, and INRIA.
Within DemoCIS challenge 3, which focuses on "acting against the polarization of societies and disinformation," led by the Institut Mines Telecom through its two schools IMT-BS and IMT Atlantique, we are recruiting a post-doctoral researcher to conduct collaborative research on the impact of Generative Artificial Intelligence on informational disorders.
In collaboration with the project team and under the responsibility of Christine Balagué, Professor of AI and Management at IMT-BS, founder of the Good in Tech research network, the post-doctoral researcher will contribute to the analysis of the dual effect (both negative, via the amplification of misinformation by the Artificial Intelligence algorithms of platforms, and also source of solution, with technologies such as watermark, computational fact-checking, or LLM) of Generative Artificial Intelligence on informational disorders. He/She will participate in several multidisciplinary research projects in collaboration with different IMT researchers (in economy, management, law, computer science) and more broadly from the DemoCIS project (with other disciplines such as information communication, political science, and sociology).
MISSIONS:
Conduct research on the dual impact of generative AI on informational disorders
Ensure coordination of the DemoCIS generative AI working group, with the production of results, syntheses, and presentations during DemoCIS workshops
Submit research papers to international conferences
Submit papers to ABS rank 3 scientific journals
Participate in raising the profile of the School and of the Institut Mines-Télécom
ACTIVITIES:
Conduct Research in the Field of AI in management, Generative AI
Carry out research missions within the framework of DemoCIS contract in the field of generative AI and informational disorders
Conduct literature reviews
Participate in and ensure the completion of project deliverables
May be required to program AI models within the framework of research (in particular NLP models)
Analyze the results of field research
Co-write research articles
Ensure Coordination Missions
Coordinate the DemoCIS challenge 3.1 working group on the impact of generative AI on informational disorders
Participate in the various meetings of DemoCIS challenge 3.1, and in certain meetings of the other sub-challenges and challenges of the DemoCIS project
Participate in research workshops
Participate in Raising the Profile of the School and of the Institut Mines-Télécom
Publish the results of the research
Make presentations and conferences
Produce syntheses for the DemoCIS working group
Miscellaneous Activities
Participate in the scientific animation of the Department and IMT-BS, and of the LITEM laboratory
Report on the activities and results that fall within the missions for which they are responsible
Job requirements
Level of training and / or experience required:
Doctorate or PhD for less than 3 years in management sciences, economics, or computer science
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Scientific knowledge of learning techniques and generative AI
Experience if possible of working in AI
Solid knowledge of quantitative methods and modeling
Proficiency in the Office Suite (Excel, Word, PPT)
Excellent scientific communication skills
Advantageous skills, knowledge and experience:
Experience in the use of AI as a research methodology
Experience in participating in research projects
Knowledge of Windows systems
