Job description

Who we are ?

Télécom Paris, part of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom) and a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, is one of France's top 5 general engineering schools.

The mainspring of Télécom Paris is to train, imagine and undertake to design digital models, technologies and solutions for a society and economy that respect people and their environment.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in electromagnetism and artificial intelligence applied to exposure, to contribute to the research conducted by the C2M chair on the quantification and modeling of electromagnetic wave exposure.

Established in 2015, the Modeling, Characterization, and Control of Electromagnetic Wave Exposure (C2M) Chair brings together researchers from Télécom Paris and IMT Atlantique, with the support of the French National Frequency Agency (ANFR). Its mission is to analyze and model exposure to electromagnetic waves from telecommunications systems and networks. With the deployment of 5G, quantifying real exposure has become a major challenge. Through European and national projects such as SEAWAVE, GOLIAT, and EXPLORA, the research aims to measure and model organ exposure in W/kg using numerical methods (Sim4Life) with digital models of individuals and mobile phones. Artificial intelligence tools will be leveraged to create surrogate models that facilitate the rapid assessment of exposure.

Your main tasks will be to:

  • To carry out research missions in this fields of

    ·       optimizing SAR and PD measurement using optical probes and inverse methods,

    ·       the creation of a substitution model for assessing exposure induced by emissions from wireless communication systems

  • To ensure supervision and tutoring missions

  • To contribute to the reputation of the School, the Institut Mines-Télécom and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris

Job requirements

The position requires a Ph.D. and advanced expertise in electromagnetism, with a strong knowledge of near-field to far-field transformations and plane wave decompositions. Experience in numerical modeling and optimization of power density (PD) and specific absorption rate (SAR) measurements is essential. Proficiency in simulation software such as Sim4Life is expected. Skills in neural networks and experience with Matlab and Python would be an asset. Fluency in English is mandatory. The position also requires the ability to work collaboratively, strong analytical and synthesis skills, and the capacity to showcase research findings through publications and conferences.

Why join us?

You'll be working in a fast-growing, pleasant, green and accessible environment (especially for people with disabilities) just 20 km from Paris (RER B and C suburban train lines, close to major roads, shared shuttle departing from Porte d'Orléans). You will benefit from :

  • 49 days annual leave (CA + RTT)

  • flexible working hours (depending on department activity)

  • telecommuting 1 to 3 days/week possible

  • 75% public transport pass reimbursement

  • Proximity to numerous sports facilities, concierge service, underground parking, in-house catering, etc.

  • Staff association at school and ministry level
