Job description

Internationally recognized generalist engineering school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom), leading French engineering school (Technological University), IMT Atlantique aims to support transitions, train responsible engineers, and use scientific excellence to serve teaching, research and innovation.
As part of the ANR projects LEASARD and VORTEX, which aim to increase the navigation autonomy of drone fleets in complex environments via embedded AI and event-based vision (event cameras), we are recruiting a research and development engineer within our Computer Science (INFO) and Mathematical and Electrical Engineering (MEE) departments.
In collaboration with the project team, you will ensure the simulation of drone missions using state-of-the-art tools for AI learning and demonstration. You will be responsible for producing training data for vision models and, depending on your skills, integrating hardware accelerators (FPGA) into "Hardware-in-the-Loop" simulations. Finally, you will actively participate in the scientific dissemination of the work through the writing of publications and participation in international conferences.
Job requirements
✔️ You have skills in software design (Python, C/C++) and mastery of simulation environments (Gazebo, Unreal Engine, or Unity). You have experience in artificial intelligence (Deep Learning, PyTorch) or embedded systems (ROS2, FPGA/VHDL design).
✔️ You are curious, show scientific rigor and autonomy, and have a sense of initiative. You possess strong intellectual agility and an ability to adapt your priorities in a research context. You enjoy working in a team and have excellent oral and written communication skills in English to evolve in an international context.
🎓 The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate (PhD) in computer science, electronics, or robotics (or have a defense scheduled soon).
