CONTEXT :
Public establishment belonging to IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom), placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, IMT Nord Europe has three main objectives: providing our students with ethically responsible engineering practice enabling them to solve 21st century issues, carrying out our R&D activities leading to outstanding innovations and supporting territorial development through innovation and entrepreneurship. Description :
IMT Nord Europe is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Position in Computer Vision and Generative AI. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research environment and contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of computer vision, generative artificial intelligence, and multimodal learning.
The main objective of this position is to develop novel generative AI methods for computer vision applications, with a particular focus on Diffusion Models and Vision-Language Models (VLMs). The postdoctoral researcher will explore how advanced generative and multimodal models can be designed, adapted, and applied to challenging vision tasks such as image understanding, visual reasoning, conditional generation, assisted annotation, and multimodal representation learning.
In addition to research activities, the successful candidate will be expected to play an active role in the development of a new international Master’s program in Vision and Artificial Intelligence. This includes contributing to curriculum design, identifying key thematic areas, helping structure the academic program, and interacting with academic and international partners involved in the initiative.
Main responsibilities
· Conduct high-level research in computer vision and generative AI.
· Develop and evaluate innovative methods based on generative models and Vision-Language Models.
· Design, implement, and validate deep learning approaches for vision applications.
· Publish research results in leading international conferences and journals.
· Contribute to the preparation and development of research projects and collaborations.
· Actively participate in the creation of an international Master’s program in Vision and Artificial Intelligence.
Job requirements
Candidate profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning, or a closely related field.
They should demonstrate:
· strong expertise in deep learning, computer vision, and generative models,
· a good understanding of multimodal AI and Vision-Language Models,
· solid programming skills, particularly in Python, with experience in frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow,
· strong scientific writing and communication skills in English,
· the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an international research environment.
Preferred qualifications
The following qualifications would be considered an asset:
· experience with VLMs, LMMs, diffusion models, GANs, or other multimodal architectures,
· experience in applications such as image and/or motion generation, detection, or visual understanding,
· interest in higher education development, pedagogy, and international academic cooperation,
· previous involvement in academic program design or structuring initiatives.
