MISSIONS


The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices has transformed modern environments, enabling the creation of intelligent services and applications embedded within smart ecosystems. The convergence of AI technologies with these environments has led to Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) systems, which bring unprecedented capabilities but also present significant challenges. Ensuring the continuous and resilient operation of AIoT systems, particularly in highly dynamic environments, requires addressing several complex issues. This necessitates the development of advanced solutions that enable these systems to adapt autonomously to changing conditions, ensuring they meet operational requirements and maintain seamless, efficient performance. For this purpose, adaptive management of AIoT systems ensures the continual operation such systems given specific requirements to be satisfied.

This postdoctoral position will involve leveraging approaches from fields such Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, distributed systems, Edge computing and autonomous computing. The selected candidate will design and implement innovative approaches and frameworks that enable AIoT systems to dynamically adjust their operations in response to environmental changes and evolving user requirements. Moreover, the candidate will explore techniques for enhancing the robustness, scalability, and energy efficiency of systems, ensuring they can operate reliably even in constrained environments. The candidate will also have the opportunity to collaborate with industry partners and contribute to the practical deployment of these solutions in real-world AIoT applications.

We are looking to hire one Postdoctoral Researcher for an initial duration of one year, with a possibility for extension by up to one or two additional years. It is accessible to holders of Ph.D. degrees in computer science or a closely related field, with relevant experience and publication record. The chosen candidate will become a member of the DiSSEM Team (https://www.inf.telecom-sudparis.eu/dissem/) at Telecom SudParis, working under the guidance of Georgios Bouloukakis.

ACTIVITIES

The selected candidate will conduct research for efficient and continual AIoT system operation. In particular:

  1. Will explore AIaaS research topics to enable adaptive lifecycle management of AIoT systems.
  2. Will work on designing adaptive solutions for the management AIoT systems across the IoT-Edge-Cloud Continuum.
  3. Will work on intent driven control to enable resilient and adaptive closed loop operations with energy, accuracy and resource utilization intents.

Job requirements

Level of training and / or experience required

  • PhD or Doctorat for less than 3 years

Essential skills, knowledge and experience

  • Good experience and knowledge in AI and IoT systems
  • Good level in Java/C/C++ programming languages
  • Good level in middleware-based IoT protocols and networks

Advantageous skills, knowledge and experience

  • Desired experience in IoT-Edge-Cloud technologies
  • Desired knowledge in self-adaptive/autonomous systems techniques (MAPE-K, control theory, etc.)
  • Desired experience in orchestration tools involving the deployment and configuration of infrastructures and services (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
